If I don't stop snoring now, my wife won't let me live long enough to become a senior.

I'm very happy with the quality of life improvements I have had since getting my CPAP. Of course, I have severe apnea, and the article says that only "moderate" apnea seems to have the benefits, so there you have it.

Is a couple more low-quality years really worth being eternally sleep-deprived? That's what you'll be following this advice.

The reason they're seeing what they're seeing isn't because sleep apnea is ok for the elderly. It's because so few untreated apneics live past 50 that those that do have exceptionally robust (apnea aside) genetics to suffer the ravages of sleep apnea.

It's probably not true that sleep apnea prolongs life. It just seems that way to the non-snoring party sharing the bed......

I would be curious to know what the mental/emotional state of those apnea suffers is. Sleep disruption or not cycling through the phases of sleep does have a negative effect. I know I suffered from it for several years due to significant weight gain caused by a particular medication. So what's the point of living longer if you're angry, depressed, and tired all the time?
