PJTV: "Going Galt": One year later
My show is from the PJTV studio in Washington D.C. where I interview Ed Hudgins of the Atlas Society on "Going Galt" one year later. We talk about "going Galt," the Tea Party movement and why it's time for Americans to launch a moral offensive to combat encroaching government.

I agree and think much of our emphasis to be successful is to redefine the words and issues at stake here. I like the comparison to the busybodies of the world that we can all relate to and understand the reason we need and should shut the power of these folks down.
I have always referred to these types of regulators and building inspectors and the type as having been in school safety patrol as small children and loved that their fellow student and cars even would stop when they dropped the stop flag on them.... and they simply loved the thrill of themselves and their power up into adulthood. Now they are our mayors, bureaucrats and more.
and metermaids and schoolteachers and cops and so on.
just wait until most work for the government and everyone is a cop of some sort.
in canada the cops openly encourage us to rat on our niegbours and even offer a $1000 reward "for information leading to an arrest and conviction".
welcome to socialism.
Am not canadian but of newfie descent. When i visited family there some years ago, they mentioned a saying in that half the people worked for the government to assist the other half being on welfare. Such was/is the state of affairs... some sad sack of affairs indeed.
Nanny-state is i think a good term to describe the phenom, as i do think it is accurate to view the decline in terms of a feminization of the culture; that being a desire to control each and every aspect and action and motive like an old nasty nanny goat momma versus the hard nuts type reality discipline of a good solid father. Viewed and worded as 'nanny state' helps my argument as everyone can relate and sense and immediate and visceral reaction to a mother's nanny type over controlling nature to smother mother one to the death.... don't ya think?
...versus the hard nuts type reality discipline of a good solid father.
I found this line to be ironic in the context, given that generally totalitarian dictators have been characterized (self-characterized too) as fathers. Or as "Big Brother". Also watching/controlling every aspect of life and action and motive with sharp eyes and an iron fist.
So this sets up an interesting contrast between the iron fist and "hard tyranny" of father/big brother, and the "soft tyranny" of nanny-goat smother-mother. The thing is the two can go hand in hand and lead to the same ultimate end. The soft tyranny that may not seem as obviously a tyranny (just many little rules for your own good!) can readily give way (or just be the accompanying "softer side") to the iron fist. You try to throw off the smothering blanket and at some point the fist will smash you.
EKatz... would have to completely agree with you as you added the iron fist of deception that backs up the nanny state, all for our own good.
Good thought!
