Speaking truth to power
I pass this physical therapy center in Knoxville all the time and have admired this sign for some time. It's rare that you see health care professionals who are courageous enough to take a firm stand against socialism. I think people have had it and are willing to fight bad legislation in any way they can. Good for them.

Now that that the existence of this sign has been "publicized", it would not surprise me to hear that it gets vandalized.
This would be similar to reports of cars with Bush bumper stickers getting keyed but no one keys Obama stickered cars. A marked difference in tolerance…
Sorry Dr. Helen, you've got it all wrong. When it's a liberal, it's "speaking truth to power". When it's a conservative, it's "fear mongering" or "encouraging Timothy McVeigh types".
ZZ,
Bull. I know you are just being sarcastic but this attitude must change. The only way to do that is for us all to stick up for those who speak out and refuse to back down--even if our signs get vandalized. Then the local news and others can report on the hoodlums that destroy property for those who exercise their first amendment rights. Believe me, that will not go over well here.
It's a start but we are going to need more than signs to fight this present crop of fascists, statists and ignorant Chicago thugs. My view was that we, as a country, could probably outlast this present crew and get things fixed in the next election(s). But I'm not sure any more that the country can outlast them.
Dont ghet me started on scams of physical therapy and health insurance! Even myh doc told me go once and thendo it on your own.
note: malpractise is a very very small part of our major expenditures--read up on this--and a problem never mentioned: doctors never rat out those docs who ought no longer be working...They know who they are and why they should be de-licensed! But the clam up and thus the same docs often the ones sued...ps: see how malpractise handled in other countries to see how a civilized societyh handle this instead of ranting about socialism and other cliches.

"Who knows the definition of socialism?"
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/socialism
so·cial·ism [soh-shuh-liz-uhm]
–noun
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2.procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
socialism, in the real sense, is an ideology with no basis in reality other than how it manipulates people via promises. only a small child or someone with substantial deficits would believe that a vast pool of money can be taken from a group of people and given to another without harm.
all economic systems are based on who controls the means of production. marx suggested that the workers would share in this and that government would eventually fall away.
marx was a comedian.
in america large corporations control the means of production and government chases along picking up the scraps, whereas in canada government is the dictator creating protected markets for selected cronies.
a socialist economist`s wet dream.

RE: Good Point, However....
....if you REALLY want to experience 'speaking Truth to Power', go up against your county political apparatchik....
I'm doing that vis-a-vis the Pueblo County Republican Party. And NOW I'm being accused of forwarding a motion to forgo the Pledge of Allegiance at the state-level 'dictatorial' mass precinct caucuses.
Go fig....
Regards,
Chuck(le)
P.S. According to the report offered by a former secretary of the PCRP, I made a formal proposal to forgo the Pledge of Allegiance and my wife, co-chair of our precinct, seconded it.
However, the county apparatchik has yet to present formal documents supporting their claim.
To describe this health care monstrosity passed by Congress, our national legislature, as "malpractice" just seems inadequate; stronger words are needed. Of course the sense is entirely correct, but it just does not do justice to the extent of the injury done to the nation by this violent destruction of our traditional governmental form. They have ignored and thumbed their noses at the Constitution and every aspect doing the will of the people. Instead, it has become a matter of doing the will of the Democratic Party machine. But what is that except an evil group of people who will soon die? Why are they so bent on the destruction of this nation that has given so freely to them, just as to all the rest of them? What black hearts they must have!
