Carrie L. Lukas, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex And Feminismhas a post up entitled "Pro-Male Affirmative Action?" that makes a good point:
Indeed, the entire concept of pro-male affirmative action undermines the feminist cause. Admitting that women so dominate academia that men need special rules to compete exposes as absurd the feminists' continued push for funding for girl-power programs (such as those related to math and science) and their continued fixation on the exact number of female college athletes.

Feminism is about the supremacy of female sensibilities over male sensibilities from the home to the workplace. Up to and including throwing men in jail for not towing their sexist agenda line.

Before, women could only control the men in their homes. With one sided sexual harassment laws, women can now control men in the workplace too.

as a male i don't need special rules to compete....the whole idea of such a thing is laughable.

i have 405 lbs on a bar in the basement sitting on rubber mats so as to not crack the concrete of the basement floor. i don't know too many women (and by that i mean none) that can lift it, or even begin to think to lift it.

same on the soccer field.

in my professional life i don't compete. i don't have to. what i do is effective and i get referrals.

a masculinist movement would be as ideological and tyrannical as any feminist movement could ever be, and i'm not into oppression.

i have learned to stay away from the lulu-lemon mafia though.....

All affirmative action has been a failure, and if someone were dim enough to put it in place for males in college it woo would fail.

Affirmative action for blacks was an idea that came from a good place I think. There obviously were problems in the black communities from Jim Crow and other types of bigotry, and I believe that the opriginal idea was well meaning if not well thought out.

But the only thing that affirmative action programs are good at generating is law suits, paperwork, and distrust of minority hires by people who earned their job the old fashioned way.

Personally, I would rather they keep academia. That will ensure they drive it into the ground. At this point that is probably all that can save it. Feminism is just one problem with academia. That beast is so covered in various sorts of tics and fleas the only way to save it is to put it down and start over.

academia has to meet it's market like any other business.

not that i'm justifying the behaviour, it's just true that if at least half your population on campus is female, you aren't going to sell them on engineering or math degrees in large numbers, but liberal arts degrees sell like hot-cakes to the MRS crowd.

Good points on our education system. Because it is subsidized by our money, it over-values its product. And affirmative action makes it like Fannie and Freddie, giving things to people who have not earned them.

It will crash too. Soon I hope.

penn and teller did a great piece on college life, one that shed light on some pretty nasty PC behaviour.

Yeh, but recently Penn went on and on about how wicked smart Obama is. I will stick with his entertainment value from now on! Good thing that is considerable.
