Grand Rounds is Up
Grand Rounds is up at Tech Medicine. Take a look, especially if you are concerned about spinach and E.Coli--there is some good advice. Also, take a look at this picture of a pregnant woman in a bikini advertising non-alcoholic beer--is this such a good idea? I could be persuaded either way.

Speaking of pregnant-
You've probably already seen this youtube video but for the few who haven't its pretty cool.
I have no problem at all with images of pregnant women (Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair was fine), but I don't like this. Leaving aside the question of whether people might miss the "non-alcoholic" part ... that's a stupidly poor photoshop job. Looks even at a glance as if they took the top half of a woman leaning backwards and the bottom half of a woman leaning forwards and mashed them together.
While I could see that a pregnant woman advertising non-alcoholic beer might not be to the taste of some, I fail to see how it is immoral or unethical. Our society has for a long time seen children as a nuisance, a pregnant women in a bikini is one of the few counterexamples to this frame.
Then there is the target audience. My wife, who is pregnant, certainly misses beer, a taste she acquired while living in Ireland. Pregnant teetotalers who wouldn’t be otherwise perhaps an “untapped” (sorry) market.
enoch choi,
You are welcome--thanks so much for hosting Grand Rounds this week!
Non-alchoholic beer is always a bad idea.
Actually, i knew an organizational psychologist who swears he'd be a lush if it weren't for NA beer.
Since he HAS to have it, does that make him a non-alcoholic?
