Good advice.
Here’s Tip #10 – Be aware that the political environment has a direct impact upon your business, virtually any business. Don’t be one of those who says that you have no interest in politics. I didn’t have much interest in politics until I realized that what occurs in Washington can make or break my business in short order.

Tip 8: Pick an industry or market segment that is totally unregulated, like software development in the early 90′s, or . . . blogging in the early 00′s.

Be aware that local regulations may be worse than federal regulations. When I ran my own business, the two worse things were the state unemployment report and the county property tax assessment (which was a horror.)
And for those businesses that serve alcohol, heaven help you.
Sounded like advice from Susanah Breslin for a minute there...
Unregulated is increasingly hard to find. The other day I advised my 23 year old nephew who said "I'm not interested in politics" that he should be, because sooner or later politics will be interested in him.
