"More than 30 percent of the cases investigated by detectives each year are deemed unfounded, five times the national average."

In response to my previous post, Dave from the BaltoNorth blog sends in this article from the Baltimore Sun on false rape allegations:
The Baltimore Police Department has for the past four years recorded the highest percentage of rape cases that officers conclude are false or baseless of any city in the country, according to The Baltimore Sun's review of FBI data. More than 30 percent of the cases investigated by detectives each year are deemed unfounded, five times the national average. Only Louisville and Pittsburgh have reported similar numbers in the recent past, and the number of unfounded rape cases in those cities dropped after police implemented new classification procedures. The increase in unfounded cases comes as the number of rapes reported by Baltimore police has plunged — from 684 in 1995 to 158 in 2009, a decline of nearly 80 percent. Nationally, FBI reports indicate that rapes have fallen 8 percent over the same period.

Many people mistakenly think that women never falsely report rape. You would think that after all the mess with the Duke Lacrosse team and the resulting books such as Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case, that academics and others would realize the error of their ways but ideology often wins out against the truth.

I also suspect that a large percentage of the cases that are deemed to be founded are false too.

Again, the feminist mantro, "Women don't lie about rape," is proven wrong. 30% is incredibly high. I wonder if other cities track differently, or fail to track, false reports. Or, if women in Baltimore think being propositioned is tantamount to rape.

Note the lack of numbers for prosecuting the false police reports by these women.

Recently, police from the UK and the head of the Vice Dept in Austria both declared the false rape statistic to be 80%.

4 out of 5 claims of rape are bullshit.

Perhaps the penalty for filing a false report should be the same as for the crime being falsely reported. If the penalty for a crime was 10 years, then the penalty for filing a false report for that crime should also be 10 years. I'll bet that would cut way down on false reports.

But it'll never happen.

It is more than 30%. More like 50%.

Women lie about rape in order to get attention and sympathy. For example, an accusation of rape will mobilize an army of people to help the woman, get her paid leave from hr job, get her free rent, etc.

California passed a law that a landlord has to give free rent to a woman who files a rape accusation (whether true or not). Nice incentive there!

Women also lie about rape to 'undo' having had sex with a man she later considers unworthy.

Women get partial-birth abortions for the same reason - to 'undo' a conception with a man who later loses his job, etc.

On another matter, we had an interesting local event this weekend:

A married couple has been physically fighting for the last 8 months. An Exparte is put in place in February against the husband. He violates it a bunch of times in that same February of 2011, so many he has to go to jail for 3 days. DV problems occur in both March and June. In July the couple decides to separate, the Exparte is still in place as far as I can tell.

The wife decides she needs to get "her things" from the husband. She takes her 13 year old son and drives over to the husbands house. He stabs her a bunch of times and then he kills himself. Now how come she hasn't been charged with anything? What right did she have to get in this guy's face?

Mind you, I've pointed this out to the newspaper with no answer, although nobody has complained yet that I have no sympathy for the wife. I think if you have an Exparte against somebody you should be legally obligated to stay away from them.

cham, that's a terrible tragedy that not charges are going to fix, but i see your point about what we call restraining orders here in canada. they should be binding on both parties...as any legal contract is.

a client of mine, a 25 year old man, had a restraining order placed on him by his ex-girlfriend. she decided she missed him, or somesuch, and called him up to come over. when he appeared the police arrested him and held him until trial on a prior charge of assault.

when he was arrested he was in possession of several counterfeit $20 and $50 bills, which didn't make things easier.

men and women fight in different ways...

Not quite relating to the subject of false rape charges, but on the subject of a contributing mindset:

How can a woman function at all, if she truly believes that every man is a potential rapist?

Just as I'm sure many women fail to report actual rapes, many women falsely report rapes.

Humans are not naturally truthful, but seeking advantage and leverage in their lives. Women use the tools they have available.

When there is past history between the victim and the accused, the legal system needs to be very careful they aren't being used as a weapon in a larger power struggle.
