Will women ask to see men's biceps before having sex?
I read this article in the New York Times (via Hot Air) entitled "Scientific Advances on Contraceptive for Men." This paragraph caught my eye:
So there is one method of birth control--the implant--that is visible and lets women know that the man is really using birth control. Wouldn't it also be helpful for men if women had something similar? Instead of just having to trust that a woman is taking pills, shots, etc., a guy would be able to see something tangible.
I actually like the idea of male birth control because it gives men more control over their reproductive lives. Right now, they simply have to "trust" that their sexual partners are using birth control. I wonder how women will feel when they have to do the same? At least if the guy is using an implant, it will show. But men? No such luck.
And honestly, wouldn't the feminists be all over it if women had to show the same kind of transparency? Hypocrites.
Of course, women may have to trust that their partners are using birth control, as men do now. But at least one method, hormone implants, visibly bulge from a man’s bicep. “Guys like it because they can show it off,” Dr. Amory said. “Proof that the male is contracepting"...

Actually, there used to be exactly that: Norplant was available in the US until 2002. If memory serves, the side-effects were often quite unpleasant, and a lot of women had problems with the implants. It would be unsurprising if it doesn't turn out that the male version has similar drawbacks.
I recently read that the Israelis have invented a non-hormone-associated male birth control pill that is completely effective, has no side effects and needs to be taken once every month or even 3 months.
FDA approval should occur by 2013 at the latest.

Trust is so 19th century.
I use a condom. If she tells me she's allergic to latex, I point to the floor behind her and say, "Look, honey! A $50 bill" and see if she falls for it.
My dad told me an old poem. "Women make passes at men who have vasses." The gist of it was men who have a vascetomy are more sexually appealing to women. Same kind of thing, cept no frozen peas and you can see it.
Trey
[...knows he's going to really regret asking this, but...]
@Trey: Frozen peas?
I had a vasectomy eleven years ago.
Oh, and before then I prefered non-latext condoms. When I get back into the dating scene, they'll be my choice for anti-STD reasons.
Zorro, it is ok. Frozen peas are the preferred pain killer post vascetomy. I totally understand your reluctance though!
Trey
@Trey:
"preferred pain killer..."
[shudders]
I remember a friend who did the snip-snip, and said after, his wife fed him endless margaritas while he sat on the couch with a bag of ice on his.............bag.
Are you telling me that frozen peas are commonly used to...house...the bag...post-op?
[vowing to never again consume frozen peas!!!!!]
ZP,
It's more that you use the frozen peas instead of an ice pack. external use only.
Of course, you'll never look at frozen peas the same way again.
Heck, endless margaritas, I may get mine snipped for that!
Trey
Is there anyone here that truly believes a seventeen year old guy won't shove a 'sterilized' finishing tack under his skin?
Really?
Seventeen year old thought processes involved:
Find out what it looks like on internet.
Find closest tack you can.
File it to match.
Polish it because a smarter friend told you to.
Get some friends (including smart one).
Get everybody drunk (excluding smart one).
Pass out.
Wake up with convincing artifact.
Get laid.
I'm not so sure the last part will be so conclusive after word gets out.
i`m not sure that many guys at 17 want to get a girl pregnant.
Some quite visible percentage of seventeen year old males would take the leap and hope for the best. I don't need all that many for my fable to hold up.
upon reflection, i suppose you have a point. i guess as a 17 year old, i didn`t have to mutilate myself to get laid...
Vasectomy. At any age. End the Matriarchy!
...except there's enough frozen sperm on tap right now to service every fertile female for over 50 years.
One more thing: PVPS. Google it.
Will women ask to see men's biceps before having sex?
Only if they neet in elevators.
