Polygamy is legal in the United States or would be if it was challenged to the SCOTUS. This is why NONE of those charged in Texas were charged with polygamy. Only child abuse and endangerment. Those sect members that were polygamous and not involved with those child brides have not been charged with ANYTHING. If a law is not enforced it is not a viable law, its a sham.
I actually do not think having 3 or 4 wives would be all that difficult in the correct social and legal setting, assuming the women were on board. Send two of them out to work, have two at home, and switch them out from time to time. The chores involved with child rearing, domestic duties, and marital attentions would be much less onerous on the modern busy woman. From the man's side, it would be a bit of a task but no more than controlling the reins of a four horse buggy. He would have to be good at leadership and delegating duties. Knowing also to let the kitties figure out their own ranking system, which will probably be based on his assessments though and to a degree. I think it is a mistake to think polygamy is all that difficult or bad.
I may not agree with it and probably would not go for it, except in an exceptional global 'situation'. But I think many people mistake how simple, good, and rewarding it would really be. It is merely that Americans, and more women, take a dim view of children and family.
Hmm, most women I have known want sex no more than, say, 3 times a week, in longer term affairs. Times 4 women... that is 12 times a week... which is... just about right for a man, if more might be appreciated. Jealousy might just bump that number, too. Heh.
Doom, I feel you are being tongue in cheek to a degree, waiting for a hair raising response from somewhere. So, to take your point of view one step further, the number of wives don't matter, especially if they are someone else's. To have the best of what most women have to give in the first place, without having to pay for her hairdresser, fuel, car payment, clothes, food, house, etc. and still being able to hog the whole bed at home at night while sleeping, is the best of both worlds. The number of cheaters is about a dead even split between the sexes. As a single guy for a very long time now, I know I have been with women (though maybe not at the time) that were not unattached.

What's it cracked up to be? I couldn't imagine.

I'm reminded of the old joke about what the penalty for bigamy is.
Monogamy is one wife too many.

RE: What's That Report....
....about a Chinese idiogram for 'trouble'? Two women under one roof?
Imagine FOUR....
There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

We seem in general to have a number of wife, but one at a time...as far as multiple wives in Texas etc: that is a state issue
