Lanny Davis, former special counsel to President Bill Clinton, campaigned for Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. Lieberman, despite his reliably left-wing voting record, infuriated the left for supporting the Iraq War. Davis found himself on the receiving end of "hate and vitriol of bloggers on the liberal side of the aisle" and "their extremism, bigotry and intolerance." A friend and fellow Lieberman supporter, said Davis, became "fearful for his physical safety."
"I held on to the view," Davis admitted, "that the left was inherently more tolerant and less hateful than the right. ... I have reluctantly concluded that I was wrong. The far right does not have a monopoly on bigotry and hatred and sanctimony."

I've found those on the right who preach values to be vastly more tolerant than those on the left who preach tolerance.

First you believe something, then you see it all over the place.
From what I've heard and read over the years, the hate is very equally distributed. If you want to see some vile, vulgar and contemptible right wing hatred, you need merely visit patdollard.com
There are numerous right wingers who thrive on hating.
What is far more interesting is that, during terms with Democrat presidents, the right wing kooks come out of the woods. With a Republican president, the left lunatics flourish (e.g., Code Pink). When your ideology is in the Oval Office, you tend to gripe less. But the notion that right wingers or left wingers are more civil is self-indulgent rot.
Has anybody besides ole Lucifer here ever heard of Pat Dollard, ever? Anybody? Bueller? I sure haven't. It's interesting that time and again we have to be directed to 'right wingers who thrive on hate' when all you have to do is open up your local newspaper or turn on the tv to find the mainstream left spewing vile lies like the unheard and unrecorded racial slurs directed at black Congressmen by the Tea Party protestors.
Who or what is a Pat Dollard and why should I care? Never heard of him/it.
Left wing hate is easy to find. All you have to do is say the words "Sarah Palin" or "Rush Limbaugh" and the hate spews forth.

I get your point. I don't doubt the existence of hate on the right. Interestingly though, the right is less inclined to make their religious doctrine law than the left is.
However, as I'm sure you have noticed, the left is dominant in power today. The white house and huge legislative majorities. Yet, the left is going all out against the opposition.
@Larry J: I agree, I never heard of Pat Dollard. And Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity never condone violence, contrary to how they are misquoted.

I also find it interesting how the left conveniently defines association.
According to the leftBarack Obama sits in a racist pastors church and listen to hate filled anti-American church for 20 years and that is a tangential relationship that only a desperate right could care about, yet if one out of a hundred thousand tea partiers yells out something obscene (or so they say, can't seem to produce the evidence despite a $100,000 reward for it by Breitbart) and the entire right is guilty by association. That's pretty much the jist of it.
What could be easiwer than find hate messages from the one side or the other? no one side has a monopoly in this. Repeat: NO ONE SIDE.
The point, fred, is that it is not at all easy to find hate messages from one side, but one sides hate is almost inescapable.
Name the sum you want and I'll pay it when a 'joke' implying that Sasha Obama had sex with a celebrity shows up on mainstream tv.
Der Hahn, fred may write some poorly thought out stuff, but he is not stupid. Your bet is safe!
Trey
How about a bet on when a TV program will show a photo of Obama with the caption "snipers wanted" like what happened to Bush 43?
Or when someone will write a play about killing Obama like they did with Bush 43?
Both incidents were dispicable with Bush and would be just as bad directed against Obama.
