Cathy Seipp
I am sure most of you know by now that Cathy Seipp of Cathy's World is in the hospital and her daughter, Maia, is keeping us informed on her condition via her blog. Cathy was gracious enough to do a podcast with us on parenting last year and she was so lively and so much fun. I came away from our interview thinking about how much Cathy loved her daughter and what a terrific mother she was to have raised such a lovely young woman. Cathy would be very proud of how her daughter is handling her illness now with such grace and strength. I don't have anything to add except that my heart goes out to Cathy and her family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers today.

Rough patch right now - Mom with Lung Cancer (she knew better than to smoke, but...) Dad with SD, a PSA test that came back last Tuesday at 18, a cat scan that showed a blocked Kidney last Thursday, and hospitalized for cest pains yesterda (yeah - he's a walking medical nightmare)
I am grieving for Cathy Seipp, though she fought the good fight. I have long admired her forthrightness and fearlessness. She is braver then and now than I have ever been.
Did you all see that some cybersquatter who dislikes Cathy Seipp (and had previously registered "cathyseipp.com") had posted a positively evil note supposedly from Cathy Seipp? I think someone got it taken down at last.
We are all taught that people are not "evil." To say vile things about a person when they are on their deathbed (and about that person's daughter, too) is simply unthinkable. I hope that friends of Cathy Seipp can identify the person, and let the whole blogosphere know what kind of person he or she actually is.
On a more positive note, give some support to Maia, if you can.
The wonderful thing is that Maia really knows---based on all the support and kind words for her mother--- something that it took me many years to learn about my own parents.

I think that as far as the cybersquatter goes, it is best to ignore such a person. And as far as evil, who says that some people cannot be evil? In all the years that I have dealt with people, I have come to realize that yes, some people are evil or as I call them--NDG--No Damned Good.
I believe that the perpetrator of cathyseipp.com is the person known by Cathy's readers as "Troll Dolls".
Cathy knows him personally- he is Cathy's daughter's former teacher- and had him fired for inappropriate behavior towards Maia. The website is his petty revenge, which Cathy found amusing to some degree and would occassionaly mention in her blog.
Cathy is a great example of toughness with a sense of humor and she's been a role model of mine in for years.
Cathy and Maia are definitely in my prayers. Cathy is one of my favorite bloggers and I will miss her wit. The world will be a worse place, when she passes.

I only corresponded a little with Cathy Seipp (who attended UCLA when I did, too long ago) and her daughter Maia. I worry about Maia, but I know that Cathy Seipp imbued Maia with great strength.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as the saying goes.
Keep an eye out for a Cathy Seipp memorial of some kind---I'm sure her friends and extended family will have something in mind.
But for now, I grieve at her loss.

I'm not saying it is true, but my father used to explain people thusly: there are more people than there are souls. Thus, some people are born without them, and do despicable things.
It doesn't have to be true to get the flavor of how I feel about "Troll Dolls."

Thanks for passing on the news about Cathy, I guess I was hoping for a miracle, but it was not to be....
The sad news of Cathy Seipp's death made me wonder whether as the old saw has it "The good die young" or whether it just seems that way because we feel their loss so keenly.
May she rest in peace and may God comfort her daughter in her sorrow.
I feel for her daughter. I lost my mother when I was her age. It's a tough thing to go through at that age. I suppose any age.

I loved to read Cathy's columns. She was so good, funny and smart as could be. May she rest in peace.
I did not know her, and only recently knew of her. Boy, did I miss out.

Poem's Desafinido. Author is a brilliant woman named Eleanor Stanford. Only thing I ever could find fault with her style was her lineation.

Speaking of French writers, Victor Hugo once said this:

The dead deserve nothing but the truth."
The truth for Cathy Siepp, then, and respect for Maia. And whatever else I can offer with the poor resources at my disposal.

Inasmuch as I haven't seen any other famikly member's comments here perhaps it's ben left up to me, a cousin twice removed, to express my sincere thanks to you all, for your good wishes; and particularly for your your kind expressions of encouragement for Maia -- a bright and lovely young lady nowleft without a mother's continuing love.

I read Cathy's World often and although I never knew her in person I can assure you that any imitation of her is a pale one indeed.
I do hope legal action is taken against Troll Dolls soon.....before he finds another victim to impersonate.
