The Dr. Helen / InstaPundit Podcast

Our first show is with Michelle Malkin author of Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild, and blogger at MichelleMalkin.com. She talks about being an author, a mom, and the target of thousands of extremely nasty emails.

Our other interview is with Internet rock star Audra Coldiron of Audra and the Antidote. She talks about being an outcast in high school, and how she used that experience as inspiration in her songwriting -- and how she hopes her new baby won't grow up to have the same awful experiences.

You can listen to the podcast by clicking here. (You don't need an iPod to listen to podcasts!) If you want to subscribe to get future podcasts, just copy this link and paste it into your podcast-listening software. You'll also be able to subscribe through iTunes soon. Hope you like it! If you've got suggestions for future topics, or guests, let me know by comment or email.

Don't tell me blogging is going to develope a self admiring, narcissistic, onanistic, subculture similar to journalism's "why don't we just sit around and talk about ourselves" preoccupation (compulsion?). Yuck.

Anonymous: Geez, you say all that like it's a bad thing.

Lighten up, man...

very cool. Radio's usually fast-paced, constant interruptions and redirection. This had a much more comfortable and respectful pace. Michelle and Audra were able to go in their own direction a few times, and not just for a few seconds. That said, I prefer radio pace ... but the change of pace was nifty.

To be honest, I couldn't tell whether it was intentional or if it just worked out that way.

Can't say it over at Instapundit's, so I'll say it here. I've got ASDL & can download at a theoretical max of 150Kb/s. That podcast is coming down at 5kB/s. Which wouldn't be a big deal except it's 22.7MB !

I also note that Glenn's site is awfully slow today too. I suspect the podcast downloads are slowing everything to a crawl.

Guess I won't be bothering with the Podcasts anytime soon.

Quick thought about distribution.. depending on how you feel about it, Bittorrent may be a great alternate way to distribute future podcasts. If you get even 5,000 people who download it via torrent, it could save some time and trouble for your bandwidth.

motor 1560,

Thanks for the feedback--there are a few technical problems to iron out--the phone system is difficult as many people do not have land lines anymore! This makes the audio a bit harder to understand. Glad you enjoyed Audra--my favorite song is Sugar Daddy which I am listening to now. We hope to get the podcasts more streamlined as we go along. Hopefully they will become better as we get more practice with the equipment etc.

Tom H:

Sorry you're having a problem. It streams fine here; maybe it's a network congestion issue. You might try again later. I've actually served bigger video files with no problem, but I'll touch base with the HostingMatters people and see what we can do.

Dave,

I was born in Berkeley but spent most of my life in Knoxville--I lived in NYC only during my twenties for graduate school--and have lived in Knoxville since. I do have a bit of a Southern accent.

Your husband requested we submit subject recommendations:

1. Lying Joe Wilson's 7 lives
2. Rathergate
3. Who's behind the "peace" rallies

These may seem overdone, but actually there has been no comprehensive analysis of each issue. New revelations came piecemeal and the MSM continues to butcher and misrepresent each.

Great idea this is to have the two of you together doing a Podcast. I look forward to the next one. Do you have any ideas how often you will publish them? Do you think they will be on a regular basis.

I just ot an iPod for Christmas and love it. I have been listening to Wizbang's podcast and Left, Right and Center. I look forward to hearing more from Dr. Helen and Instapundit Podcast team.

Thanks :)

Richard,

Thanks for the suggestions--I will talk with Glenn and see what we can do.

Anonymous 1:54,

We have another podcast on filmmaking with Evan Coyne Maloney and Stuart Browning coming up soon (within the week) and we will continue to put out the podcasts as we feel like doing them. Of course, it depends on when our guests are available and what our schedule is like. Glad you got an iPod and that you like it.
