FIRE: "American University Says No to DOJ Grant Over Mandatory Sexual Assault Classes and Surveys":
No school should require students to attend a mandatory sexual assault training program in order to register for classes. Good for American University for saying no to the grant and such a requirement.
FIRE has discussed the issues with mandatory sexual assault education before. Most recently, we've done so with regard to Hamilton College's "She Fears You" orientation program, which was based on the theory that men need a "combined emotional and cognitive intervention" to reform their deeply ingrained rape-supportive beliefs about gender and sexuality.
Hess mentions this program in her article, and the "She Fears You" program is well worth reading about in full, so I won't rehash it here. It's important to note, though, that AU's proposed program was problematic in an additional way: aside from the training itself, it would have required students to fill out two sexual assault surveys per year, apparently asking questions such as whether they had had "unwanted sexual intercourse" or endured "forced sexual touching or fondling" in recent months. If students failed to fill out these surveys (or attend the training program), they would be blocked from registering for classes--essentially, kicked out of school.
No school should require students to attend a mandatory sexual assault training program in order to register for classes. Good for American University for saying no to the grant and such a requirement.

my wife encourages forced sexual touching...should i arrest myself now?

And good for you, Amanda Hess, and The Fire for publicizing it!
I forget the psychological term for this phenomenon, but I seem to recall something about how if you treat someone as though they are prone to a type of behavior, they will eventually manifest that behavior (e.g., if you treat your husband in a manner consistent with him actually loving you to pieces, eventually he will behave just that way).
"She Fears You."
I'm not so sure women will have much to fear from men, because it's just in our nature to split from the whole f'n program and leave you all to rot with your raisin-ovaries.
Shouldn't they just "man up" and take the course? When are these stunted, knuckle-dragging slackers going to finally grow up and realize their life purpose is to do what women tell them? These boy-men are just resentful and fearful of the rise of women, that's all.

I remember when the HR ladies came to give the "sexual harassment" lecture at my graduate school. We had a men's group going and were talking about gender politics and misandry in 1994. We were gentlemen until she started talking about a perceived hostile environment and then we got quite vociferous in talking about how to a borderline personality or untreated sexual abuse survivor the whole world can be a hostile environment.
It was a hoot.
They did not come back the next year.

You will be treated as you allow yourself to be treated. There are other universities in the world. There are other women in the world.
After a lifetime, let me just say marrying someone from a different culture might not be the easiest way. I cannot say it is not the best way.
That's not an indictment of any woman, or American women in general. I didn't marry any, so I don't really know. I seem to be happier than some of those who comment here.
I share the resentment of every person forced into these classes. The few who need them don't benefit. The vast majority of men are basically slandered by forced participation. They might as well have a program for female education majors based on the few, highly publicized statutory rape cases women teachers have been involved in.
It's not fair and it stings, doesn't it ladies?
Nothing says "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" like mandatory sensitivity training. As well as "Oh, you're male. Clearly your parents failed to bring you up right."
Sexual harrasment training is little more than a formalized vehicle for inculcating the female POV as the default for how people are to behave in the office; gynocentric supremacy is to be the norm and normal male behavior is now suspect, if not outright banned.
case in point:
I now work for a motorcycle shop in a small market. Its a great place to work, office politics seems to be minimal.
During my train-up, I noticed the parts lady has a beefcake calendar in her work area. The pics are bare chested hunky guys with motorcycles. The shop itself sells cheesecake & motorcycle calendars and carries give-away magazines like 'biker news', that has a monthly biker chick cheese cake calendar pic. When my tools arrived they made room for me and one of the guys put up the monthly calendar on my work cabinet with a magnet. I didn't think much of it, until one of the other techs told that if a certain female saw it she would complain and I might get in trouble as this had happened to amother tech a while back. This other female is completely aware of the beefcake calendar her coworker displays. No complaints about that of course.
I haven't taken the calendar down, as I will confront the sexist double standard when it comes down to it. I will probabaly relent, as I like the people here, but not before I make my point.
But there it is; females expect to be able to run the show where ever they are ensconsed; thus they are supremacist and quite sexist as the norm.
I think all women in the workforce need to have 'consideration of males' training where they are taught that men are different and that men who are not their husbands/boyfriends are not obligated to conform to what girls want, just because a girl thinks they should.
" ... females expect to be able to run the show where ever they are ensconsed; thus they are supremacist and quite sexist as the norm."

The problem is the chivalrous men who are enabling that behavior. The women are just taking advantage of it - a common human reaction whether male or female.
The Joe Bidens of the world have to be opposed.
"But there it is; females expect to be able to run the show where ever they are ensconsed; thus they are supremacist and quite sexist as the norm."
Spot on. This is the same kind of thinking that posits that blacks cannot be racist.
They never listened to that bigot Farakhan.

...or that bigot Jackson. Or that bigot Sharpton.
Maybe some colleges are starting to get concerned about the lack of men. Reminds me of the sexual harassment mandatory propaganda classes at work I had to endure before I retired. Good for American University- two cheers anyway.
I am so glad I am not a college student today. The whole male-female thing seems to me to be warped. I have a daughter who is still in college. She is very pretty and popular with friends but does not date. That seems to be a practice that has gone away. Her relationships with boys seems to be very different from the days when I was her age. She has three brothers and sisters, three of whom are married and two have kids. Times have changed even since her oldest brother was in college.
That should be four brothers and sisters.
When I hear or read about sensitivity training and similar feminist-inspired social engineering, it only makes me think that the contemporary Western human female is the most fragile, insecure creature on the planet.
I don't particularly feel that way myself, having known a certain woman (dead now, alas) who was a WAC in WW2, and who danced with Gen. Patton at a function in England. She was, as they say, "something else." Fearless, self-contained and funnier than Robin Williams, she was very critical of young women today. Given what her generation endured and the country they created, it really makes me wonder if 50 years from now there will be history books decrying the American woman of today as being the most trivial, sniveling wimps of society.
No offense. None of you had the privilege of having known her.
I had a whickey drinking grandma that was 5' 4" that no one screwed with. She was a rancher wife and made bathtub booze during prohibition. She makes modern women look foolish and like weak sisters.
