and many other online retailers. I have already finished my Christmas shopping--much of it online-- but some of the sales are pretty tempting. Sales online are increasing steadily:

Sales online are increasing steadily:The National Retail Federation estimates 212 million shoppers hit stores and websites during the four-day weekend starting Thanksgiving and ending Sunday. That’s about 17 million more shoppers than last year – and the weekend of shopping isn’t over yet.
An NRF surveys says more than 106 million shoppers are expected to shop online Monday – a day of internet deals now known as “Cyber Monday.”
Eighty-eight percent of retailers are expected to offer deals on their websites, compared to just 72 percent in 2007. The number of shoppers taking advantage of Cyber Monday and the retailers taking part have both grown steadily since 2005, when just 60 million people shopped online after the holiday weekend.

MOST of my shopping is 'on-line' these days. Used to be this town was the 'go to' place to by just about everything in the state. However, times have changed. Mostly due to stupid local politicians giving up their 'birth right' as Esau did for a bowl of porridge.
I estimate that if it's not groceries, toilet paper or gasoline, I buy about 95% of everything on-line. And the groceries are getting 'iffy'. Can't find hazelnuts to make Pate au Chocolat avec Creme Anglais: a regular holiday offering for parties.

I'm more Jew than Christian. December 26th is my big shopping day.
I stayed at the ranch with the little ones while the eldest progeny and my wife shopped on Friday. I will likely do a lot of my shopping online and in used stores. Used games, books, and music get a lot of gifting for us.
That said, I will probably shop a little today.

No Black Friday shopping and no Cyber Monday shopping. I did buy myself a new jacket from LL Bean last night to replace the one I bought 20 years ago. Best jacket I ever had and bought the same style again.
I'll probably buy a few things online this year.

Nor any shopping at ALL last Friday.
Rather, today I was looking for a string-of-pearls cranberry-colored garland to go with a new holiday decoration of this household that we had in mind.
Again....as usual for this town....no joy. Back to on-line shopping.
Additionally, being somewhat involved with local government, I keep seeing how the city council is complaining about how there's no 'sales tax revenue'. Gee.....I can't 'imagine' WHY that could be happening.
NOW.....
.....if the city 'fathers'....heh...rather some other gross term....insist on taxing the internet sales because they have no local sales....what does that indicate?

P.P.S. What was that item I saw on the Instapundit about "The Continuing Conspiracy to Steal from the Taxpayer"? Or words to that affect?
P.P.P.S. Of late, I've take to telling the unfortunate sales-type that is trying to help me find something they don't have....

Amazon had something I wanted to get on sale last Friday, so I bought it then. Others are not locked in with Cyber Monday, and I'm thinking it will be a fad that passes. Perhaps retailers want to pad their sales figures for Black Friday, so they move up their online sales?
i found a used weight bench for my step-son for his birthday on-line, but i negotiated the sale in person. (kijiji)
i used to buy and sell on e-bay until the couriers began to hijack me for taxes and customs fees.
I let UPS and Fed Ex deal with the traffic as much as possible. I often grocery shop at Wal Mart at 3:00 A.M. to avoid the crowded aisles when my list becomes that big. That leaves the rest of the time I venture out (aside from going to and coming from work)to do things I really want to do, making it worth the effort. I agree with Cham. Lots of good deals on December 26 (but again, on line).
