Stuart Schneiderman: "Is Sarah Palin Being Defensive?:"
Despite herself, Lizzie Wurtzel confessed a grudging admiration for Sarah Palin. She was drawn to Palin because, to her mind, Palin does not take s#*t from anyone. Which is both true and fair.

Wurtzel is right to admire a woman who can stand up for herself and defend her dignity without engaging in histrionic displays, without pretending to be a man, without complaining about the injustice of it all, and without relying on a male presence to back her up.

Sarah Palin is everything people say about her: cinderblock stupid, a burgeoning media whore, and the most popular MILF in the trailer park.

I'd like to think I could be civil to her if I happened to meet her, and I don't care for the attacks on her kids, but PLEASE! This is no female version of Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt or JFK. She is an intellectually negligible strumpet pining for great things at the expense of this country. And I fear the voters are stupid enough to think she'll change anything for the better. If she's elected, she'll make George W. Bush, by comparison, look like the director of MENSA.

There. I said it and I'm proud of it.

K, you are usually a good poster. But this one makes me doubt your sources and veracity. How exactly do you know these things about Governor Palin?

Sources please.

And they would need to be great sources to support the sweeping statements.

People keep calling Sarah Palin stupid but based on what evidence? Many of the same people say Obama is super intelligent but based on what evidence?

Palin is far more representative of the vast American "fly-over country" than the DC establishment or the Ivy League crowd. The more the Left ridicules and hates Palin, the more Americans see what the Left thinks about the rest of us. I predict that as people see that "the party of the little people" is actually ran by and for the effete snobs, the more the Democrats will lose power. So, go ahead and keep it up.

Sarah Palin is a woman who rose from housewife to governor on her own merits without the help of a powerful daddy or husband. She doesn't play the victim. She isn't part of the new Mandarin class who believe they're entitled by birthright and credentials to rule over the rest of us. And for that, she must be destroyed.

Is she ready to be president? She's far more qualified than Obama was in 2008. Personally, I think she's still a bit young for the job but that's just a personal opinion.

Whatever her shortcomings -- and Kevin M's fevered ramblings aside, they are few -- she's a Real Woman, married to a Real Man. No wonder the Feminazis and Girlymen hate and fear her.

One thing she does, besides freak out abortionists (which is reason enough to love her) is she freaks out those who worship at the altar of intelligence. I know very intelligent people, I have worked for them, worked with them, and tested them.

Some were fine people, and some I would not let care for my pets. Intelligence is a good thing, but it is trumped by character and kindness.

Common sense kicks intelligence's ass as well.

And Governor Palin stirs up that issue quite nicely.

I would currently no like to see Sarah Palin run. Think she is an OK politician and a lot more like able than most of the Repubs, but the media hate her with a passion. The absolute circus that election would be... Though don't know if the repubs got anyone better. I think she is just as qualified as Obama, course that isn't a high bar.

I could see them bringing out Tina Fey again to impersonate her and most of the electorate thought the skits with Tina were actually Sarah Palin. So I don't think it would end well.

And the Democrats' frothing at the mouth hatred of her is God's gift to Sarah Palin. The more they attack her, the stronger her support. Fortunately, the all-wise, all-knowing, all-caring Democrats are too stupid to realize that.

Trey: I am not an FBI profiler, but at some point everyone has to assume they know something about human nature.

When Obama was running for prez, many things were revealed about his background. Just to select one, look at his voting record in the Senate. It was repeatedly claimed that he voted "present" (not yay or nay), but "I'm here, I heard the argument, and I'm claiming NO COMMENT on this vote"). Now I realize there are times when a Senator must consider that the jury is still out on a topic, or perhaps he/she wants to investigate further. But in Obama's case, his entire senatorial career was a blatant act of careerist survival. He wanted to avoid controversy, making enemies and otherwise shirk his duties as a senator just to survive.

That, to me, is the antithesis of what a government official or public servant should be or do.

Most of us on the right knew this guy was a poseur, a fraud and a pretender to the throne.

AND WE WERE RIGHT! Even thought the left accused us of being racists. We were absolutely right.

Let's flip the coin. What do I see and hear about Sarah Palin? Her background in gov't is as meager as Obama's, she quit her only state post (although there is an argument for nobility of intent). My "sources" as you inquire are one: Sarah Palin.

When a leftist schmuck like Matt Lauer and Katie Couric can play with that woman like a kitten plays with a ball of yarn, I don't see POTUS material. When Palin recently yammered about how she wouldn't "waste my time" talking to the likes of Couric again, that told me she likes to get her ass handed to her, run away and sulk, then re-emerge with an air of condescending superiority.

Again, I'm no profiler, but there is no bottom to Sarah Palin. She is to candidacy what Oprah Winfrey is to broadcasting: a wind sock.

I can easily see why the religious right like her, and I share even her view that "blue bloods" and Wall Street swine are taking this country for a ride. But in no way do I see the intellectual or educational capital, let alone the presence of genuine character (hers is akin to Glenn Beck's: it moves where the money is). Allen West is very religious, and I respect his right to believe whatever he does. He has earned the right to his mettle.

Palin? Not in a month of Sundays.

A vote for Sarah Palin is just like a vote for Barack Obama. It's revenge voting. People don't vote for those candidates because they truly know they're the best person for the job. They vote for them out of a loathing of the incumbent. Obama was the anti-Bush (and a deft way to purge white guilt).

That's it.

Now I have to go change my shirt. I spent so much time laughing at Stormbringer's assertion that I am a leftist that I broke out in a sweat. Some people never advance much beyong the 4th grade.

Now you want to attack me for believing in creationism and the Bible? Wow, I do not have time or patience to discuss the logical fallacies that you are exhibiting, and will dismiss you as a vicious, obstreperous little troll. I have atheists who have much more entertaining attacks on me that you are capable of doing, Duckie.

Thanks Kevin. But I do not follow the greed accusation. What makes you think she is primarily motivated by money?

And while I agree that Couric handed Palin her ass, do you not also agree that this was a setup 'gotcha" interview? Couric has had exactly one tough interview, that one!

I do not respect Palin for her intellect, it is her common sense, values, and character. I am not sure I would vote for her for President. But how smart do you have to be to vote "no" role back spending and dismantle large parts of the fed?

Not very in my book. She has the intent to do those things which places her miles above most other politicos.

It irks the self-described intellectual left to have their lunch eaten daily by someone who they think is "cinderblock stupid". I like that about Sarah Palin.

"When a leftist schmuck like Matt Lauer and Katie Couric can play with that woman like a kitten plays with a ball of yarn."

Let's get Matt and Katie out of their home-turf studios and into Sarah Palin's Alaska which is HER studio. We'll see who plays with whom. Here's a hint. Guess which locale is more representative of people who work for a living?

Kevin M immediately goes for the insult which means he has nothing. Not only that but the insult is only decades old. What an original thinker!

Speaking of pointy heads, having never done anything actually productive in their lives, and part of a dying industry, Katie and Matt couldn't survive more than 24 hours outside their little sheltered media bubble. I'd love to see them try. There's a reality TV show idea for you. Except no one would watch. Then again, no one watches them now.

Are you speaking of the Condi
Rice, who let the 911 attack happen, without a whimper of objection? The Condi Rice, who was National Security Advisor, for George Bush? The Condi Rice who saw her job, as said avisor, to carry out the Presidents instructions, without any objections or complaints, even though the National Security Advisors job is to be the one person in the administration who says "STOP" to the President? That Condi Rice? Who let 911 slip by, because she had no clue how to operate in the real world, outside of a professors office? That one?

Or perhaps you mean another one.

Cham, I am interested to hear your idea about her allure.

For me, it is her faith, her common sense, her not being part of the elite, and she is the only person who can tear the current President a new one and get away with it. Well it seems that she is the only one.

While the Republican elite remain weak and meek, Palin went for the throat.

I like that.

But I would also like to hear your ideas.
