Topher,

I must admit I was a skeptic til the end. If MA can vote in a Republican, anything is possible.

RE: As I Commented to President Obama....

....when he spammed me with an e-mail on how important the race for this Senate seat was....

Hey.....

....Mr. President....

Let US all 'Hope' for some REAL 'Change' in Massachusetts. Eh? Let's put aside 47 years of an unconvicted masher/man-slaugtherer who drove one of US into a ditch and left her to drown.

Happy New Year, 'sir'....

Looks like my wish came true.

RE: Thinking 'Ahead'

So.....

.....if this victory is confirmed. What does it imply for Obama & Company?

It certainly looks like a LOT of Democrat-held seats will be rolled.

What will Obama & Company do in order to avert a complete turn-around in the make-up of the Congress? Or lose important governorships? The latter is important because THIS is the year of the decadal census: wherewith states decide how to layout their various voting districts and precincts. [Note: You should see the 'varicose-veins' running through MY state. And I'm confident others have the same malady.]

Please pardon my 27-years-in-the-infantry-induced 'paranoia', but is the recent procurement of 200 MILLION rounds of .40 cal ammunition by the Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) Agency in any way connected?

I ask because it seems rather 'odd' to me—being something of a professional logistician—that an organization of that size, i.e., 15,000—and they all aren't 'shooters', needs that much ammo. Especially of the 'man-stopper' caliber.

As the article in the link says....

....in case the entire population of Mexico tries to cross the border over the next five years, this would be enough to shoot everybody TWICE. [Note: Emphasis added.]

So....who do they think they need to shoot with all that ammo? And is their professional training and mission, i.e., rounding up people and sending them off to someplace they'd rather not be, something of an 'indicator'? After all, Bill Ayers, Obama's political-science 'mentor' conjectured that in order to establish a socialist America, it would be necessary to 're-educate' around 25 MILLION Americans. And I suspect he was thinking along the lines of Lenin and Stalin and how they dealt with the 'Kulaks': rounded them up and shipped them off to Siberian 're-education' camps. Few survived the carefully crafted training pogrom.

Indeed. This vote is an indication of 'revolution'. One of ballots. Not bullets. Which is a good thing. However, I'm reminded of something some political 'philosopher' said some time back. A philosopher that I'm certain Obama has read and likely admires....

My hopes are we have arrived at a new turning point, a threshold.

I mean...... Massachusetts.

As I read elsewhere, maybe Texas won't have to secede after all.

And yes, thank you Massachusetts.

Amen.

Thank you God as well.

I am divided in my expectations and hopes about the Democratic response. On the one hand, I hope they start over with so called health care reform.

On the other, I hope they try unsuccesfully to push it through, have many defections, and get spanked in November.

But will the Republicans blow it like they did with Bush? Likely.

Conservatives need to take over the pary the way the progressives have taken over the Democrats. The results will be very different.

If the Rs think this is an endorsement of their business as usual, this will not last. Given human nature, I think the progressives will burn out and the Rs will go back to their big spending ways.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose.

Not to get too far off topic (Yeah, Brown!!), but maybe ICE agents are lousy shots. As another former infantryman, I remember reading a statistic from the Vietnam war that ordinary infantrymen fired over 1000 rounds for every enemy KIA. This is compared to snipers averaging 1.6 shots per kill.

This was not a pro-Republican vote and maybe not a pro-Brown vote. this was a "Hell, NO!" vote to the agenda.

Even if you don't like him (or especially if you don't like him, listing to Glen Beck's program (last night I think) is instructive.
