You mentioned you felt like 11 years of education and work would go down the drain because you had to abandon the stress. Aren't there ways of dealing with it? There are people who can't deal with daily life without getting stressed out, for instance, who visit professionals like yourself for help. Where's the line between changing your mindset, coping, and throwing in the towel?
I think that depends on each person and their tolerance for stress. It depends how one processes stress--some people thrive on managing others, I don't--working alone is easier and less stressful for me. I think each person has to know their limits and boundaries and work within them. One thing I did was try to transfer my skills to other areas that use my psychological training-interviewing, writing, filmmaking etc. If a person has had a heart attack, it is imperative that they lower their stress. You are right, it does help to visit a professional if you cannot manage your own stress. One can learn relaxation techniques, breathing exercises and change the way they think about their work stress. Sometimes throwing in the towel is the right thing to do if indeed one's health is at risk and these techniques do not work.
I admire your work and I hope to become a forensic psychologist myself. I would also like to focus on children/teens. Could you share your career history with me? What steps would I take education-wise, etc.?

I have always felt that jobs would be the death of me. I've just always believed that working, especially in offices, is completely unnatural.
