But. But. But...she CRIED!!
Isn't that punishment enough? Hasn't she gone through enough hell already? She was forced to wear HIGH HEELS (kind of) for Heavens' sake!!

She already had to trade in the car she was given for an big, gas-guzzling SUV. For the chillldren. You know she had to come up with the difference. She's sacrificed so much for them already (including their father) and who are WE to get in the way of a mother and her chilllldren (and a 12-Gauge)?

This will get interesting.

Good God what is the court thinking? These children don't have a father!

(Deep sarcasm warning.)

Don't these kids have their own Guardian ad Litem to represent their interests and make recommendations to the court? Aren't there social workers involved? The cases I'm familiar with as a legal assistant (working on the GAL side in some cases and the parent's side in others) are so different from this case, it's just bizarre.

At least a judge somewhere has some sense. The kids need to be able to sleep at night.

If I misbehaved, my mom used to warn me that the boogieman would get me at night. Mary Winkler's kids would lie in bed scared that she would get them.

I couldn't sleep in the same house she was in. I know that much.

The breast-feeding med student won her appeal.

This stay probably will not amount to much-- the standard of review will be abuse of discretion. And thats a pretty high one to meet-- basically the appeals court will have to say the judge is an idiot...
Then again -- stays are routinely denied esp. in something as subjective and fact-intense as custody cases.. perhaps the court of appeals is making a policy/political statement...

How much input do the children have? Two of them are old enough to understand that she killed their dad...if they don't want to be with her, can the court force them?

ralph,
were you trying to make a point by juxtaposing the story of the breastfeeding med student with the husband killer? If so, could you spell it out for a dummy like me?

Thank you! I'm glad some of our courts still have legitimacy!

Ada47, we were talking about it in another post so I'm sure Ralph is just giving us the update.

John Bobbitt must have felt the same way. (Before embarking on his er, colorful career path in films)

Bobbit was asleep too, right?

I'm not saying he has any redeeming qualities, because I don't think he does. But he was asleep, if I remember correctly.

If looking at it face to face, one on one, "feminista" women need the law on their side to protect their ability to "win the fight". Right or wrong in a particular scenario. They have been working on it heavily for a long time. The left is truly grasping at straws lately. I look forward to reading Clarence Thomas' book.

I can't wait to hear the millions of orgasmic convulsions on the night, should it happen, that it is announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, the first female President of the United States, Hillary Clinton!"

Of course, it will piss Pelosi off to be so out done. Hopefully, the cameras will shoot right to her, to reveal to all, that look of daggers in her eyes.

Has a divorce ever occurred when a President was in office? I mean, she will have absolutely no use for him anymore if she wins the election. (Here that, Bill?)

I heard segments of him on 60 Minutes and Nightline. He seems like a smart, independent and principled man. I hope the other 8 justices have as much respect for the Constitution as he does. It is unfortunate that he had Anita Hill to deal with. And he is expected to be one of the longest served justices.

Don't give up hope yet. Although, I hear some Christian organizations are upset with the GOP and willing to not vote, that scares me!

Not voting IS voting. That's the damned problem there.
