Simple Rules for Making an Idiot of Yourself on the Internet

I find it hard to believe that John Kerry is posting at the Daily Kos. Perhaps Kerry could use some more tips from the hilarious James Lileks who states:

Ever since Bush imposed martial law and shot the cast of "The View" -- sorry, since Bush won the last election, hard-left nuttery seems more mainstream. Bob Dole did not post on bulletin boards that claimed Bill Clinton would soon use FEMA to herd everyone into U.N.-run camps where everyone would get Mark of the Beast bar codes on their necks. John Kerry, on the other hand, has posted at the Daily Kos, whose neck-vein-popping contributors seem to think Bush spends his nights getting hammered and ordering Halliburton to poison Iraqi water so he can get kickbacks from the Pepto-Bismol Crime Syndicate.

Read the whole thing.

Update: Now Ted Kennedy is posting over at the Daily Kos via Michelle Malkin--does the Senator have any scruples at all? Oh wait, what am I saying?

Apparently Kennedy just posted on Kos also (ref. Michelle Malkin). We already know these guys are drooling lunatics. What I can't fathom is, Why do Massachusettes voters put them in office? I mean, surely there must be a few rational people in MA.

Hmmm. Let's see. Besides their rampant insanity, one thing these bozos have in common is huge family financial backing and contacts, and a heartfelt belief in porkbarrel legislation. Oh. Maybe I just answered my own question...

That is what is so amusing about Kennedy (Ted, I mean, who has the vices of both of Jack and Robert, and the virtues of neither). He rails about the "lifetime appointment" of the Supreme Court.

What does he have in the Senate? If that isn't a lifetime appointment, I don't know what is.

Dear Dr. Helen:

I love this post, but my "Kuperberg Detector" is beeping in "imminent warning of contrarian posts" mode. Kind of like the robot from "Lost in Space."

I'm sure he'll start posting about extreme statements made by right wing individuals, like Ann Coulter's recent nonsense about Justice Stevens.

But Kos and Atrios are supposed to be very influential and speak for rank and file progressive liberals, what with Kennedy and Gore and Le Kerry posting. Ann Coulter certainly doesn't think she speaks for anyone but Ann Coulter. And since I thought what she wrote was tacky and tasteless, I'm delighted that she thinks she speaks only for herself.

Anyway, I am sure the missiles of relativism are on their way. So in advance, let's all agree that wishing anyone dead (other than Osama bin Ladin, maybe) is a bad thing?

Looks like ever increasing desperation on the Democrats part.

Perhaps, if the Dems actually had some good ideas and tried leading, they could accomplish something. But, instead, as the old saying goes, any fool can criticize and most will.

Kennedy should be the poster boy for a drive to install term limits on senators. Even when their own constituency doesn't like them or their politics, they keep getting voted in because they are so entrenched in the good-old-boy network and have seats on the important committees that bring home the pork.

I might be showing my youthful ignorance of the Kennedy clan here, but the byline at Kos says Edward Kennedy. Is that Ted? Or another Kennedy. How many of them are running around in Congress, anyway?

anjali,

Ted is a nickname for Edward Kennedy--there is one other--Patrick Kennedy in the House.

Dr. Helen:

I think that there are several more second generation Kennedys working their way through the system...other than Patrick.

Edward Kennedy was the last of the first generation that old Joe Kennedy gave America.

There is a decent wikipedia entry on the family at this site:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_family

I really dislike old Teddy, but it is a remarkable family

anonymous,

Thanks for the link--you call them remarkable--I call them reckless and some of them criminals.

Ah, Dr. Helen... I am one of your anonymous posters who you have so kindly protected and supported. You know me fairly well, in fact.

When I used the word "remarkable," I by no means intended that as a necessarily positive descriptor.

I am painfully aware of the history of bootlegging, illegal wiretapping, vote fraud, cheating on exams, evading arrest, openly lying, participation (at the very least) in an innocent person's death---and most of all rank elitist hypocrisy---in that family.

Again, I didn't mean "remarkable" in any positive sense. For good or for ill, the Kennedys are one of our "royal" families, like the Adamses, the Roosevelts, and some people claim the Bushes.

The maxim about absolute power comes to mind with the Kennedys.

I can't understand the fascination with the Kennedys. I've always thought old Joe Kennedy was evil to the nth degree. I'm not interested in John or Bobby and think if their name had been Jones, they would have been unknown. Teddy is obscene. There are few people I would be openly rude to, but he's one of them.

I agree that Teddy deserves contempt and scorn, for the rank hypocrisy and self-serving elitism he displays. He truly exemplifies our own "class" of aristocrats, with everything negative in that term.

I believe that it was said before that Ted Kennedy lacks the virtues of either JKF or Bobby Kennedy, and has the vices of both instead.
