The old joke goes that the word politics derives from "poli" meaning many and "tics" are blood sucking parasites.
Or, as Ann Althouse posted today, Suckers prefer Democrats. The converse is also true.

....if anyone has done a correlation on percentages of Republicans and Democrats on welfare.
Three guesses as to the results....first two don't count....
Politics makes strange bedfellows.
Could it be that bedbugs are a protected species in New York? Or is this merely a matter of "professional courtesy?"

'Leftists' are people who believe that someone else should be robbed to pay for them because they are 'poor'. It is only leftists who call for 'higher taxes' because they know it means 'higher taxes for someone else' and more money for them. Leftists are FAR more frequenly women than men because of this underlying attitude. Just ask Ann Coulter.
Since they are 'poor' and bad housing and bedding goes hand in hand with 'poor' it is inevitable that ALL 'poverty related maladies' will be associated with those on the left of politics.
My solution is simple. Kick the guvment the hell out of your life. Stop voting. It only encourages them.
While Democrats have more poor people in their voting ranks (and income is a strong correlating factor), I also think it is possible that because Republicans tend to be more self-sufficient (even proudly so), that they might be less likely to complain to the authorities about bedbugs if they did find them (especially in their homes).
Perhaps the government should fund a study to see which group is more likely complain after having these parasites surreptitiously introduced into their homes!
