Roger Simon's wish for today's Fourth of July celebration: "One thing we might end for the Fourth of July is identity politics. I’ll send up a Roman candle for that."

Sounds good to me.
In Cincinnati today they're having a gay pride march of some sort. I wonder about all these "pride" marches that involve pride over something that just "is" rather than an accomplishment of some sort.
Should we have marches celebrating pride in being tall, short, fat, skinny, hairy, bald, heterosexual, etc? I fully understand various groups marching for equal treatment (whether I agree that that particular group should have equal treatment or not is another question). But, celebrating pride because you simply exist? Seems pointless.
Though, to some degree, I agree with what he is saying. Something else I suspected has come to light. Even in so called conservative media, the ring leaders are repentant(?) radicals. Sorry, but that is as good as my take on things goes. No, no trust. He has no apology to offer for his earlier work, I wonder how he manipulates things now?

RE: Unfortunately....
....it ain't gonna happen.
Why?
Because the vaunted American public education system has created a generation of 'vipers' who (1) cannot think for themselves and (2) are built around the concept that THEY are the 'greatest generation', i.e., self-esteem 'identity politics'.
