I really like the line about how men need to pay attention to the report because stressed women do not want to have as much sex.

Right.

Given that 90% of the jobs lost are male, we are most worried about getting some.

Cause we are, you know, men, and that is all we think about.

I suppose the same could be said of men. In times of economic hardship, they do things they can't afford.

But since the story says women do these tings to cope with stress, like the stress of being a woman, it may be completely unrelated to the economy.

The survey should have measured these responses in people who have changed behaviors as a result of the economic problems, their own.

Another example of lazy journalism latching onto anything for a story

Another example of lazy journalism latching onto anything for a story.I don't think it's lazy so much as standard feminist propaganda. Do you think the apologetic and solicitous tone of the article would remain if men were damaging their families in that way?

Typical lace curtain media crap.

Chances are that in this economy, it is hubby that is losing the job. Yet the focus is on the stress that women feel as a result of having to belt-tighten.

And sorry, but how are drinking, gambling, doing blow, and overeating rational responses to being low on cash?

Lasty, not putting out for your hardworking and also stressed out hubby is more likely to make your woes worse, not better.

Articles don't get written about rational responses. That's man bites dog, hopefully.

randian correctly says, "standard feminist propaganda." The BIG clue is in the first sentence:

...typically the rock of the family during a crisis, are starting to crack under the recession pressure.I wonder how an article about men drinking, gambling and doing drugs in response to the recession would read. Or, if any body cares about how men are effected. When I search for "men recession stress drinking gambling drugs", most results are treatment centers or articles about women.

I like this short one. "More women feel superstressed during economic downturns—84% versus 75% of men—according to a new survey by the American Psychological Association."

Kinda disproves the "rock of the family" comment. 80% of the jobs lost are by men, but more women are stressed. Hardly a sign of good coping skills.

Thanks. That gives me an idea: Anyone else want to invest in my bar-pharmacy business? In West Virginia we can add slot machines.
