I get a valuable service from NPR. I keep my clock radio tuned to my local station. A couple minutes of that smug BS gets my blood flowing enough to get me out of bed.
The weirdest argument in "defense" of public funding of NPR and PBS is that money from the federal government makes up only a small portion of the budget. If that's true, then why the screams when the debate is to take away that "small portion"?
A bigger aggravation is how much producers of PBS and NPR shows are cashing in? Are these organizations stupid? Don't they ensure they get a percentage of the marketing take? The answer likely is, yes, these organizations are really that stupid.
(I should point out that tax deductibility of donations is usually not factored into the impact on taxes and thus the contribution of the federal government.)
Say what you will about Rush Limbaugh, but at least he enjoys his cigars, Oxycotin and sex tourism to the Dominican Republic on his own dime--doesn't ask the American taxpayer to help pay for it.
Wish there was presidential candidate left standing with the guts to pull the plug on public broadcasting.
Hate is not a family value, unless it is directed against a Conservative.
A racist is defined as anyone who disagrees with a Liberal.
