We've got a brother-sister act, with blogosphere fave Claire Berlinski and her brother, Mischa Berlinski. Both of them have new novels out, which happened to be published on the same day. Claire, the author of Loose Lips and Menace in Europe
discusses her new book, Lion Eyes,
and Mischa has an intriguing psychological mystery called Fieldwork.
They talk about romance and dating on the internet and why internet dating often goes wrong, Iranian history and missionaries in the hills of Thailand.

Another winner. And Claire looks to be almost as attractive as you, Dr Helen.
It really sounds good. Great job!
There is still an imbalance in the sound volume between the interviewers and interviewees. I found myself changing the volume depending on who was speaking. If you could increase the relative volume of the interviewees it might make the interview easier to listen to. This was also a problem in some of your previous podcasts.
Jonathan: Actually, I do that, applying a lot of compression so that everything is actually at the same level. Problem is, voices over the phone sound "thinner" -- and hence not as loud -- even when the volume is actually the same. (This is worse on some speaker systems than others). To some degree that's just an inevitable side effect of phone interviews. But we can't make it to Rome, etc., very often. . . .
The voice levels sound fine on my end (cheapo speakers built into my Dell laptop.) However, I sometimes notice the extended lulls between the end of some questions and the beginning of some responses, and, some awkward downtime when the lovely Insta-Hosts don't know if a guest's long answer has been completed yet. I imagine this is easier said then done, but I wonder Glenn, if your editing process allows you to cut out extended periods of dead air between voices.. (Just a nit-pick in the greater scheme of great things comming out of your shop!)

I did not know about them and her photo made me to listen to the interview...pleasantly surprised by the information...I guess good attractive photo do make a difference. :-)
Claire Berlinksi is great. Seen and read interviews with her. The photo is an eye-catcher, but an extended arm usually does not look muscular. Photoshop.
