“These are stupid, spoiled little girls."

An example of the media reaction to women for standing up for men who have been unjustly treated by the media, the law, and their University.

Volokh's post reminded my that I had forgotten how the women's team had stood up for the men. Funny how the media and liberals hate it when people don't act according to the gender/ethnic/cultural group into which they "fit". Imagine acting according to principles. How outrageous!

To use a phrase I normally hate, "You go, girls!"

Hmmmm, if you are a victim, then you are an oppressed woman, if you state a contrary opinion, you are a spoiled little girl.

So if I agree with them I am smart and healthy, if I disagree I am damaged or have a character defect.

This is EXACTLY how narcissists deal with people! Folks that agree with the narcissist are wonderful and people who challenge narcissists are wretched.

This is symptomatic of modern liberalism. Democrats are different, but this is the liberal M.O. to a t.

That is the thing with the Left in general. They all claim to be tolerant and positive and completely PC....

So long as you agree with them. It's like the old 60s mantra---"Do your own thing, dude."

So long as it is my kind of thing you do.

When a woman disagrees with the "progressive Left," she is a bitch or stupid...terminology that would never be tolerated if dealt to a Leftist female by someone on the Right.

When an African-American disagrees with the "progressive Left," he or she is an "oreo," and can even have her or his intelligence attacked. Ditto the above analysis.

And we are now all getting to see the strong taint of anti-Semitism displayed by the Left.

The ideals of the "progressive Left" are all situational, and all very much biased by partisanship.

The female Duke lacrosse team is yet another example. Remember, friends, they always believed in the team...because they knew those young mean were not rapists. They knew it before it was revealed what an evil and reprehensible twit ran the investigation, our friend Nifong.

One of the quotes chiding the women's lacross team read:

By making such a public stand of unity before the facts come out, by saying so clearly that the accused is a liar, the women of Duke's lacrosse team won't make it any easier for other women to step forward. I can only hope that none of them will ever be in such a position — where they may be a victim, want to step forward, but sense ultimately that it just isn't worth it.

Notice the desire to silence any supporters of the accused; while in the same breath they worry about accusers being silenced. They've no interest in the truth getting out, only information that supports P.C. dictates. The lacrosse team was convicted in their minds long "before the facts came out."

Rather than focusing on a minor issue of a few emotionally scared women, why not look at the larger and silent epidemic of teen suicide?

Something more positive ought to be done rather than pointing fingers, mudslinging and politicizing an issue.

While I agree that teen suicide is an important issue--especially for young men who make up a majority of the completed suicides in this country, the issue at hand, the PC behavior towards the women's Lacross team is hardly "minor" as you put it. It goes to the core of how poorly the media treats women or others who stand up for justice and fairness if they do not tow the PC line. Putting Political Correctness above truth is a travesty, not a "minor issue."

You would be so much more desirable if you would stop being so contrarily correct so often.

Yes, non-feminist women get shit respect.

But, they don't get jailed. right?

Answer me his ---

Why, if you are so convinced of your politics, do you so seldom ask any men questions?

The reason for giving the women's team the award is that, even if you think they're not so much of a much, on the Duke campus, there's nobody better.
If they don't get the award, don't give it to anybody.

The Duke thing will be settled factually in short order. I believe Nifong will go down in flames. Both the male and female teams will be vindicated, and as a result it will make it harder for this to happen to someone again. I have faith in our system and that justice will prevail, but its really sad that the target was these kids, who might be technically adults, have to go through this. I remember the panic I felt the first time I got sued, when I was a about 25. It was very traumatic and it was not even a criminal complaint. After 20 more years experience, you become more confident that the justice system will do its job, and pretty much just add the complaint or indictment to the stack and chaulk it up to a cost of living in our society. It's reprehensible what has happened to these kids.

And as we are all aware, you never know what will happen when you go to court.

Nifong's problem was that he had his head so far up his butt that he had trouble breathing; and the resulting hypoxia caused him to make unwise decisions. I hope the new prosecutor does not suffer from the same condition, he drops the charges, and the kids can get on with their educations.

Having to defend your freedoms is always frustrating, we feel entitled to them and are always shocked when they are attacked by our own countrymen. But the attacks will always occur. Just like rocks falling from a cliff on a mountain road, you have to always be vigilant and prepared to respond when the bad thing happens. I don't think that will ever change.

Now, on the site you refered there is a discussion on a finding that ingestion of "Magic Mushrooms" may actually be good for you. I am always surprised when the PC crowd, which certainly spent a good part of their college carrers "blazin' on A", responds so violently to suggestions that the war on drugs should be continued.

One of my daughters has applied to Duke to enter a PhD program in bio chemistry. She graduates from her current university in May. As it is only one of ten she has applied to, I have asked her to re-consider if accepted, even with a full ride, because of the recent goings on with the Lacrosse team scenario, Duke's response, the 88 professors with the agenda (whose agenda includes saying they don't have an agenda). And of course Nifong and various other agenda laden opportunists coming out of the woodwork - who have tried to raise their heads above the crowd by playing this thing like a cheap piano. Photo op, sound byte, etc.

It is my view those accused can never be brought back "level" to before this situation began. Well, the stripper party was a dumb idea(stated as one who has been to bachelor parties in days gone by). Everyone who can read or has a television knows this. So does the Lacrosse team now, especially the three accused - and better than anyone.

I mean, come on. The accuser was a busy bee, regardless of race. She didn't even have time to shower or change her underwear between johns... er, uh, jobs.

Duke is more than lacrosse, my friends.

Not everything revolves around these charges.

Way to exploit the scandal, like InstaDumDum and Vodkalof. You folks are really getting a lot of mileage out of the boy victim's pain. ;-)

How long until they and their parents read these things and realize how much you are milking this tragedy for all the blog copy you can, at the expense of the boy's futures?

I noticed the terminology immediately. Certain groups sure try to infantilize those that disagree with them. Agree with them, you're a sensible person. Disagree with them, and you're a spoiled, petulant child - even when you have more education or are more informed on an issue than they are.

It is called news. Or current events. Two people were indeed trying to capitalize on the situation, one was the DA, the other a "dancer." The rest of us are interested in terms of what it says about our culture. Besides the two I mention, nobody here is making a nickle.

Allow me to pose a question related to the topic. What does the group think of Nifong: is he one of the most cynical people walking the face of the earth, or is he so delusional that in his heart of hearts he really belives he has done everything right?

He has to be delusional, even if self-interest was what led him to delude himself in the first case. If all he wanted to was win an election to secure his pension, he could have started "having second thoughts" on November 8th, and be in much less personal trouble now.

Do those 88 bigots at Duke pay you to reinforce patriarchal, macho stereotypes? "Boy victim's...."? As if anyone is allowed to sneer at girls who get raped. As if that pain is anything like as bad as a judicial lynching. I guess it's perfectly acceptable for a Neanderthal like you for women to be pussies. You cannot go extinct fast enough for the rest of us, you know.

Oh, and it is simply dishonest to try to say that is affair was merely about three students and one whore.

"Duke is more than lacrosse, my friends"

That's right. Much more, and that is obvious from this affair - race-baiting, this time from black people, but hey, Jefferson Davis had lots of "children" and "grandchildren"; self-righteous defenses of race-baiting and political inteference in the judicial process. Nothing ever really changes down there, does it?

As much as I hate to say it, it is my belief Nifong saw this as an opportunity to procure the vote needed to win. I believe he mis-calculated the outcome by a country mile. I believe his actions were all about I - me - mine. Wait, can we win an election here? No real concern for the alledged victim, or the accused. That bothers me personally as much as any of the rest of the story. Why did he attempt to hide the likely vindicating evidence? Would he have been willing to prosecute this case to its bitter conclusion, while apparently knowing that the team members were innocent of the alledged crime - without ever allowing this evidence to see the light of day?

That explains his actions up to 11/7/06.
What explains his actions from 11/8/06 onward? I think he convinced himself that what was in his interest (they're guilty) was the truth, and now can't acknowledge otherwise, because that would mean admitting to himself just haw bad his behavior has been.
A cynicaaly self-aware villain would have done less damage.

He knew about the DNA results, all of them. What was, and much more importantly, what was not found. I believe he thought he was powerful enough to keep the results out of the picture. He DID try to keep them out of the picture. What's three out of state kids to him, if he is eying a senate seat, a governor's chair. Down the road, people would only have remembered him as the prosecutor of the Duke Lacrosse case. He could spin that like crazy and eventually ride it to D.C. There are people who can justify incredible things in their minds. No remorse. That's what bothers me. What was he thinking, and just exactly what was he willing to do to get where he wanted to go? He mis-calculated. I don't think he cares one bit about his behavior. His only regret, I think he's ticked that it's crashing down.

One of the reasons I don't trust politicians, and eye them ALL with suspicion... would you spend millions of your own money to land a job that may well only last 2 or 4 years, that pays 10 cents on the dollar you spent to get that job?
