I noticed that my Technorati ranking and links had increased over the past week and saw that I had been linked by a blog I have never heard of,
who is showcasing the pictures of 2000 bloggers. I am on the left side bar--eleven rows down--next to
Neo-neocon holding her apple. Okay, it's a neat idea but the purpose of showcasing 2000 bloggers and their mugshots appears to be to get as many links back from these 2000 blogs as possible--and obviously, it works. If you have your own blog and a picture of yourself on your blog as well,
you can ask to be added to the list.

Hotel @nyware is paying the 2000 bloggers off in social currency. This is an open source call out there to vet out the 2000 to Hotel @nyware's new Z list of 150.
I'm curious as to the quality of your technorati spike . . . When I did a legitimate post that cited Britney's crotch to contrast it with the main theme of my post, the good old days when women were more likely to show a bit of ankle than a bit of whatever it was that Britney put on display to get attention, my stats soared for days if not weeks . . . But there was little wheat left over from the chaff. Once they got to my blog, few -- although there WERE a few -- stayed more than zero seconds. I'm definitely torn.

ReplyDeleteI don't really pay much attention to Technorati stats, I just pointed out the 2000 bloggers thing because, like most other "contests" or awards etc. on the internet, it is more about driving traffic to the site that sponsors the contest etc. than anything else. I would much rather have a thousand nice visitors a day who like to discuss various issues than thousands of visitors who stopped by once for whatever reason. Quality is much more important than quanity--so maybe you are better off without the crotch-loving Brittney fans! It sounds like they belong on Perez Hilton's site.
You're right. But I did have the secret satisfaction of disappointing the crotch community when they found I was writing about Bette Davis instead of Britney Spears!
