Support Conservative Nonconformists

I checked out this post on Rudy Giuliani at the blog of one of my readers, Will Conway, who describes himself as "a high school student from Connecticut, and I am interested in US politics. I consider myself pretty far right on the political scale, and hold some controversial opinions. I hope you enjoy this blog."

Please go take a look at his blog and support young people who lean right--the new generation of nonconformists. Young people love to think of themselves as rebels and nonconformists in their "liberal" outlook, but the truth is, any kid who leans right today is the real rebel and has to go against the grain to have such views. Please support those young men like Will who are willing to be different.

  4. Will Conway,

You are welcome, please keep up the good work and keep thinking about these issues. Right leaning ideas are important--the idea of small government, free trade, and emphasis on national security play a huge part in keeping a country free.

  5. As Will's counterpart at school and avowed liberal, I think that this country is fairly evenly split in terms of Left vs. Right. Look at the 2004 election which went Republican 51% and Democrat 49% and the Senate is now split Democrats 51 - Republican 49.

  6. I think that Mr. Conway is doing a great job, as is his schoolmate "richard" above.

Yes, the people are split. So we need to move away from the "Republicans are stupid" and "Democrats are traitors" style "debate."

Both sides need to lay out their agenda, clearly and concisely. And then people inform themselves, and vote.

It isn't---or shouldn't be---about who has "D" or "R" after their names. That is how Clarence Thomas got lambasted for a dirty joke to a coworker, and those same critics loved Bill Clinton having sex with an employee in the "office."

Or how Speaker Pelosi deplores and attacks Republicans for corruption, and yet supports folks like Murtha and Hastings.

It's always "different" when it is "your" candidate. Partisanship is the heart of hypocrisy.

I'm delighted to see young people (who are the eternal enemies of hypocrisy, as any parent knows) become more involved.

Thus, I hope that Will Conway and "richard" both speak their minds both now and in the future.

  7. Richard,

Yes, in the whole of the country that may be true, but the majority of young people skew left and schools, universities and the media lean left as well, giving less reinforcement to those, like Will, who think more independently for his age.

  8. If he truly wants to be independent, a rebel, and piss everybody off, he should be a libertarian.

Hain't nothing nonconformist about being a statist...hell, everyone is one nowadays.
